读Speak English like a Native American学习语|第四章

我在前面给大家安利了一本学习idiom的书籍叫做Speak English like a Native American。这本书通过使用习语，讲述了Bob一家发生的故事。

今天我们一起来学习第四章，看看Bob他们家发生了哪些事儿，又有哪些习语值得咱们学习掌握。

 

 

01、head and shoulders above : 比~~~好得多

比如我喜欢玫瑰，我认为玫瑰比其它花好得多，我就可以说roses are head and shouders above other flowers.

当然在其它场景也可以使用这个词组。比如电影中，你觉得女性演员比男性演员更好，你可以说Actresses in this films are head and shoulders above actors.

 

02、butt in 插嘴,插手

比如你让人不要插嘴，你可以说don't butt in.

这个词组后面可以跟to，来接上插嘴或者插手的对象。

比如Nancy is always butting in to other people's business.

This girl is so rude that she always butts in to other people's conversation.

 

03、go into 从事~~工作

比如你可以说go into law;go into business; go into politics.

 

04、green with envy 嫉妒

My new car made my neighbor green with envy.

Bill was green with envy that I won first place.

 

05、hit the nail on the head : 一语中的，正中要害

比如你要夸奖人家说得对，就可以说You hit the nail on the head.

再看几个例句加深理解：

He hits the nail on the head with that analysis.

Jessie hit the nail on the head when she said that Tiffany was green with envy .

 

06、be on thin ice :处境不妙（可能会惹人不高兴，招来麻烦）

比如：Tom was on thin ice with his mom after he spent his lunch money on candy bars.

Bill was on thin ice with his girlfriend after she saw him at the movie theater with another girl.

 

07、shake in one's shoes: 觉得很害怕

比如：the movie was so scary that I was shaking in my shoes.

Lucy is scared of her French teacher, Monsieur Le Monstre. Whenever he speaks to her, Lucy starts shaking in her shoes.

 

08、way to go: 干得好

夸人的句式又多了一个。
