dawn这个词语的意思很美，名词表示；

黎明；拂晓；破晓。

the time of day when light first appears 。

举两个例子：

◆ We arrived in Sydney as dawn broke (= as the first light could be seen). 黎明时分我们到达了悉尼。

◆ summer's early dawns 夏日早到的黎明。

at dawn 拂晓；天一亮。

before dawn 凌晨；黎明前；拂晓。

其实它还有动词表示；

变得明朗；开始清楚 to become obvious or easy to understand。

举两个例子：

◆ Slowly the awful truth dawned. 可怕的事实慢慢地清晰起来。

◆ Suddenly it dawned on me that they couldn't possibly have met before. 我突然明白他们以前不可能见过面。

it dawns on sb that…这个on一定别忘了。

Nut 作为n.

1、( often in compounds 常构成复合词 ) a small hard fruit with a very hard shell that grows on some trees 坚果；

◆ to crack a nut (= open it) 破开坚果。

2、a small piece of metal with a hole through the centre that is screwed onto a boltto hold pieces of wood, machinery, etc. together 螺母；螺帽；

◆ to tighten a nut 拧紧螺母。

在英语俚语里面 a strange or crazy person 怪人；疯子。

He's a complete nut,.他是个十足的疯子。
